Made from marine-grade 316 stainless steel. It offers excellent corrosion resistance for both freshwater and saltwater environments.
This circular backing plate acts as a strong reinforcement on the interior side of a hatch or panel. It spreads compressive and tensile forces from the handle across a larger area to prevent cracking, delamination, or fastener pull-through in fiberglass, plywood, or other substrates.
The 1/2" lip depth is designed for thicker surface materials or applications requiring additional recess and seating depth, providing better embedment and a flush appearance on deeper panels.
It supports the compression action of the handle, helping to pull the hatch or door tightly against its frame or gasket to eliminate rattling, reduce vibration noise, and create a reliable watertight seal.
Suitable for use with Whitecap compression handles on boat hatches, cabin doors, livewells, rod lockers, bilge access panels, and other marine closures where durable, corrosion-resistant reinforcement is required.
